Muscat International Airport has won top spot for Fastest Growing Airport in the Middle East based on passengers’ satisfaction, being awarded the 2018 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for best growing airport in the Middle, as announced by the Airports Council International (ACI) World. The Airport Service Quality program is the world’s leading airport passenger service and benchmarking program measuring passengers’ satisfaction across various key performance indicators. The award caps a breakthrough debut that has seen Muscat International Airport achieve numerous milestones since the commercial operations have been launched from the new passenger terminal buildings less than a year ago.
The Airport has gained this recognition, as it continues to earn praise for its relentless focus on providing higher levels of services and performance. The award is based on input from passengers about the services and facilities provided by the airport. This in-depth feedback is crucial to how the Airport's management continues to make lasting improvements in the airport to strengthen its capacity to provide exceptional experience and service for all the airport users.
Close to 1.5 million passengers traveled through Muscat International Airport last January. The Airport has already launched direct flights to new destinations in the first quarter of this year, the latest being between Alexandria and Muscat offered by salamair, Oman’s No.1 low-cost airline. This is a positive step in the right direction as the Airport begins efforts to maximize its competitive advantage to attract more international airline routes between Oman and the rest of the world, with even more achievements to unlock.
The ACI’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) is the global benchmarking programme measuring passengers' satisfaction whilst they are traveling through an airport to better understand passengers’ views and what they want from an airport’s products and services. This encourages airports to improve their services and facilities and strive to increase passenger satisfaction.
Welcoming the delighted news that Muscat International Airport has won the ASQ Award, CEO of Oman Airports, Sheikh Ayman Bin Ahmed Sultan Al Hosani noted: “This award is another tribute to the achievements of Muscat International Airport which is moving with firm steps towards creating a global presence for Oman Airports in the international community.
