Humanitarian Operations and External Assistance (CPD4)

This unit uses the mechanism of an extended humanitarian emergency narrative to develop a
systematic understanding of the concepts, theories and practical planning and response issues
relating to national and international external assistance operation. Participants will learn from
international best practice in integrating such elements within their own national disaster
management framework; including national and international systems and procedures,
operational design and the management of operations, assessing impact and understanding the
needs and perceptions of the vulnerable.
