Salalah Airport welcomes the first Wizz Air Abu Dhabi flight

Friday, April 29, 2022, Salalah Airport received its first low-cost Wizz Air Abu Dhabi flight from Abu Dhabi International Airport to operate two weekly flights between both destinations during the Khareef season in the Governorate of Dhofar.
Oman Airports welcomed the launch of the first Wizz Air Abu Dhabi flight, where the flights were received with a traditional water salute in their landing at Salalah Airport, one of the Sultanate of Oman's air gates to the world.

Salim bin Awad Al Yafei, Executive Vice President of Salalah Airport, expressed his happiness about the new international direct route, which opens a direct gateway between Abu Dhabi and the rainy Khareef weather of Salalah at this time of year. He also stated, “I am pleased, on behalf of all my colleagues, to welcome the first Wizz Air flight, may this direct route achieve the desired goals of its establishment, the most important of which is to enhance the bilateral, commercial, and touristic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates under the wise leadership of both brotherly countries.
Al Yafei added that the Khareef season in Dhofar Governorate annually witnesses an increase in the number of visitors with the launch of airlines flights to Dhofar which has exceptional tourist weather from mid-June to the end of September of each year. This constitutes an active tourist season with nature engulfing the place as far as the eye can see, in addition to the historical sites of Salalah registered on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
