Partnership Program Signed Between Oman Airports and Sultan Qaboos University

Oman Airports has signed a partnership program with Sultan Qaboos University to organize joint visits and conferences, and to conduct joint research, development and innovation in areas of common interest between the two institutions.

The partnership program agreement was signed by His Highness Sayyid Dr Fahad bin Al Julanda, President of Sultan Qaboos University, and Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Oman Airports.

In addition, the program will serve as a platform for practical training and executive education, participation in advisory and executive boards, and the organization and implementation of community service events.

The partnership program aims to establish the exchange of scientific and practical expertise, and to work on joint projects that serve both institutions. It will also promote the development of scientific studies, research, innovation initiatives, and executive education programs in areas agreed upon, especially those that deal with research, development and innovation, and that contribute to the exchange of scientific and practical expertise.

Furthermore, the program will implement an annual joint scientific and practical event to serve the strategic objectives of both parties.

In addition, it will serve as a reference point between Oman Air and Sultan Qaboos University, through which the two organizations can nominate academic experts to work on joint executive committees or consultancy projects of common interest in accordance with their applicable rules and regulations, while providing training opportunities for Sultan Qaboos University students in Oman Air's units and airports, in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.

It is also worth mentioning that Oman Air recently opened its Innovation Center, which aims to empower innovative ideas and start-ups, and to benefit from the experience of tech companies in digital applications. The Center also serves to showcase the latest technologies, and build effective links between start-ups and existing tech companies.

The Innovation Center is a representation of the Sultanate of Oman’s drive towards economic diversification and financial sustainability in accordance with the Oman Vision 2040 plan. It is also a reflection of the vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq – may Allah protect him – for building a vibrant and prosperous economy by providing a positive and productive environment for students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and start-ups; and by supporting them at all stages of their projects with all capabilities, while enhancing their presence regionally and internationally.

Also, in October 2023, Oman Airports organized the "Aerohack by Oman Airports" conference to attract an elite selection of innovators, technology developers, designers, students, SMEs, and university students. The conference came as Oman Airports seeks to register its national commitment to projects that promote innovation in the world of transportation and explore new horizons of constructive partnerships with innovators in this aspect.

Oman Airports is a government company responsible for the management and operation of civilian airports in Oman. The company provides integrated operational services and direct management of airport infrastructure such as passenger terminals, cargo terminals, runways, parking lots and other facilities.
