Oman Airports CEO Praises the Efforts of Strategic Partners in Securing First Place Ranking for Muscat International Airport

Muscat, Oman – Oman Airports: The CEO of Oman Airports, Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al Hosni, has congratulated all employees and strategic partners for the successes achieved by Oman Airports throughout the 2023 year.

The CEO’s announcement followed Muscat International Airport’s achievement of an AirHealth International first-place world ranking – which was awarded to the airport for its excellent on-time performance standards, high efficiency of compensation claims processing, consistently good customer reviews, and high-quality dining and shopping offers.

The congratulations came during Oman Airports’ eighth annual meeting, which was held by the CEO on Sunday, 24th December 2024, in the presence of the company’s executive management and employees.

During the meeting, Sheikh Aimen Al Hosni reviewed the company’s plans and strategies for the coming year with the aim of achieving the desired goals set by the Board of Directors to make the airports of the Sultanate of Oman – including those in Muscat, Salalah, Duqm, and Sohar – continue to excel as global gateways to Oman, and as destinations with high-functioning modern infrastructure and services.

In addition, Sheikh Aimen Al Hosni highlighted the efforts made by the Oman Airports team in making the recent Airports Council International Conference and Exhibition (which was hosted by the Sultanate and represented by Oman Airports) a grand success.

Following the two-day Airports Council International Conference and Exhibition, participating CEOs from various world airports praised the event for its role in establishing a future work methodology for the airport sector; and for its success in highlighting topics surrounding sustainability, innovation, and the globally-aligned shift towards reducing industry-related carbon emissions.

During the meeting, the Oman Airports CEO also focused on the company’s efforts in supporting emerging companies and entrepreneurs, with the aim to strengthen partnerships to provide support to emerging companies and entrepreneurs that are taking a smart, innovative, and technologically-advanced approach to their various market offerings and business activity.

In this regard, the CEO highlighted the launch and opening of Oman Airports’ Innovation Center, which aims to empower start-up companies and businesses/entrepreneurs with innovative technological ideas; and which serves as a platform for displaying the latest technologies and digital applications, while building effective links between start-up companies and existing technology companies. Related to this was the Honorary Chairman of the Promising Omani Start-ups Program – His Highness Sayyid Bel Arab bin Haitham Al Said’s recent chairing of the 4th meeting of the program’s Supervisory Committee for the 2023 year.

Sheikh Aimen Al Hosni also commented on the AEROHACK from Oman Airports event, which was held in October at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center. AEROHACK is the first “ideas race” of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, and specializes in developing new ideas within the airport sector. The CEO emphasized that this event succeeded in attracting an elite group of innovators, technology developers, designers, students, start-ups, small and medium-sized companies, and university students.

In light of the efforts of Oman Airports to strengthen its national efforts in projects to enhance innovation in the world of transportation and explore new horizons of constructive partnerships with innovators in this aspect, the AEROHACK event came out with a set of innovative themes and topics wherein the participating teams presented their ideas. These themes and topics included reimagining passenger experiences and airport operations; the future of entertainment at the airport; excellence in marketing and communications; customer loyalty programs; automation; efficiency and cost-reduction solutions (with a focus on sustainability); expanding transportation options outside the airport; and enhancing safety, security and electronic privacy.

To conclude the meeting, a discussion was initiated between the CEO and the company’s employees to learn about ways to develop the Oman Airports work environment to achieve the strategic goals in accordance with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040; and to achieve the aspirations of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
