Oman Airports organizes heat exhaustion awareness campaign, covering 600 employees

Muscat – Oman Airports: As Oman’s 2023 summer approached with a rise in temperatures, Oman Airports organized a three-day Heat Exhaustion Awareness Campaign with the aim of raising awareness among workers at Muscat International Airport about protecting themselves from the direct exposure to the sun.

Through this campaign, Oman Airports seeks to educate its airport employees on the importance of taking all health and safety measures to prevent heat exhaustion and fluid deficiency.

The campaign came as part of Oman Airports’ implementation of the Ministry of Labor’s Law 286/2008, which stipulates the application of all occupational safety measures for workers and the provision of a safe and risk-free work environment.

The awareness campaign was held for the third consecutive year; and this time in cooperation with strategic partners such as Transom Ground Handling, Oman Air, Transom Sats Cargo, and companies supplying aircraft fuel. Approximately 600 employees attended the campaign.

The campaign team worked on spreading awareness among employees and workers at Muscat International Airport about the procedures that must be followed while working during times of high temperatures, especially at noon.

The team urged all workers to constantly be aware of the need to regularly drink fluids during the hot summer months, and to follow rotating shifts to avoid heat-related injuries like fainting.

Heat exhaustion certainly poses challenges and impacts on the work environment, especially in summer and during the rising temperatures. Therefore, Oman Airports is also implementing an advanced approach to mitigate heat exhaustion impact on the work environment in accordance with global and regional trends.

Oman Airports provides all occupational health and safety measures for workers at their airports, by providing the necessary first aid to quickly respond to heat exhaustion emergencies during the work period. This confirms Oman Airports’ keenness to create an ideal work environment for their staff, in which they will stay safe and healthy.
