In a spiritual atmosphere filled with Haj pilgrims’ devotional calls and benedictions, Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport bid farewell to the pilgrims heading to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj for this year.
The Haj farewell came after Oman Airports had formed a special committee to supervise and facilitate pilgrims’ travel arrangements to perform Haj. Oman Airports was also standing by to welcome back the Sultanate’s citizens, residents, as well as transit passengers, after their completion of this glorious obligation.
The Oman Airports special committee held various meetings leading up to the Haj departure dates, both with their strategic partners, and later with Haj campaigners. These meetings addressed the many requirements that the campaign would need, and they also familiarized those present with what special services would be allocated to the Haj pilgrims during this period. The meetings ultimately served to guarantee a smoother travel experience for all pilgrims involved.
During the departures, the hallways of Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport echoed with pilgrims’ prayers in what was a magnificent spiritual atmosphere. Oman Airports had also set up a dedicated route through the airport that guided each pilgrim to their departure gate; and they made available special bags and religious manuals to ensure a smooth Haj experience for all pilgrims.
Additionally, the management of Muscat and Salalah airports alongside other strategic partners increased the number of employees and assistants in order to accelerate the check-in procedures, and to provide a more convenient travel experience.
With a large number of pilgrims this year – coming from the Sultanate of Oman itself, or via international transit flights with the national carrier Oman Air, or SalamAir – Oman Airports confirmed that all necessary precautions were taken to facilitate the pilgrims’ safe travelling experience.
Muscat International Airport also provided transport vehicles for elderlies to help them reach their departure gates; while waiting areas were also made available for travellers to get some rest and relaxation while waiting for their flights.
In addition, both airports’ medical teams were on stand-by to provide emergency medical support for anyone in need – including for elderly travellers and those with special needs.
Through the Airports Security General Directorate and Passports General Directorate, coordination was also facilitated via the Royal Oman Police (ROP), who were on hand to ease each pilgrims’ check-in procedures at the passport control station and baggage check points. This intervention helped ease passenger flows and over-crowding at the entrance to the departure area.
