Oman Airports signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA), alongside the Second Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS), which was held by ICAO in the Korean capital, Seoul.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Oman Airports by Abdullah bin Saleh Al Yafei, VP of the Support Services Unit, and by the Academy CEO.

Al-Yafei said that signing the MoU comes with the aim of building the capabilities of employees working in the civil aviation sectors through developing and implementing training programs in civil aviation, and through launching many features to support best practices and creating mutual learning opportunities. The signing confirms the commitment of Oman Airports to the continuous development of human resources, in order to continue excellence in capabilities development in aviation training.
Al Yafei added that the MoU demonstrates the shared vision of building competent capabilities in aviation, and of pushing forward innovation, safety and efficiency in the industry at an international level.
He also stated that the MoU comes within the special mutual relationship between Oman Airports Training Centre and HKIAA, towards expending in areas related to human resources development and exchanging experiences between.
The MoU will allow Oman Airports to leverage HKIAA’s expertise on training at an international level. It also establishes Oman Airports Training Centre as an important international training centre in the airports sector.
Notably, Oman Airports Training Centre recently obtained official accreditation to establish the Oman Airports Centre for Private Vocational and Administrative Training by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation; the Ministry of commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; and the Civil Aviation Authority. The accreditation of Oman Airports Centre came after its fulfilment of institutional accreditation conditions and its local approved standards.
The Centre also obtained the recognition from the Civil Aviation Authority, and a number of international accreditations. It acquired the international accreditation from the American Heart Association to become an internationally accredited and independent training Centre to train and provide basic life support skills courses in accordance with the American Heart Association’s regulations. The Centre also acquired many related professional accreditations.
The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) was established in 2016, and it is the first civil aviation academy in Hong Kong established by the Hong Kong Airports Authority. In December 2019, the academy became a member company of HKIA SHL of the Hong Kong Airports Authority.
The academy offers a comprehensive training approach in all aspects of the aviation industry, including day summer camps, employment programmes, professional certification courses and the most advanced programmes.
