Oman Airports and RESQTEC partner to advance aircraft recovery training in Muscat

The partnership brings together airport operational experience and specialist expertise to strengthen preparedness for disabled aircraft recovery and removal.

Muscat, Oman Airports - 28 October 2026

Oman Airports Management Company and RESQTEC have signed an agreement to establish a specialist training framework for the recovery and removal of disabled aircraft at Muscat International Airport. The agreement provides for long-term theoretical and practical training programmes for participants from airports, airlines and specialist organisations around the world.

A disabled aircraft can significantly disrupt airport operations, particularly when it obstructs a runway, taxiway or another operational area. Responding to such incidents safely requires suitable equipment, trained personnel, clear responsibilities and advance coordination. The partnership will help participating organisations develop these capabilities through structured training and practical exercises.

Oman Airports will provide the training facilities, suitable aircraft and recovery equipment, as well as local operational support. RESQTEC will contribute its specialist training programmes, instructors and course materials, and oversee the quality of course delivery, drawing on its international experience in aircraft recovery.

The training will combine theoretical knowledge with practical exercises using aircraft and recovery equipment in a controlled environment. Participants will develop their skills in recovery planning, equipment use and team coordination, strengthening their ability to respond to these situations.

"Readiness for disabled aircraft recovery and removal depends on people being able to plan, coordinate and use their equipment effectively," said Dennis Beck, Global Sales Director at RESQTEC. "Through our partnership with Oman Airports, we are bringing together the facilities, equipment and specialist knowledge needed to develop these skills. We look forward to welcoming recovery professionals to Muscat and helping their organisations strengthen operational readiness."

The agreement also provides a framework for developing Oman Airports employees as instructors. They will participate in the training programmes and receive supervision and assessment from RESQTEC, supporting knowledge transfer and the development of local training expertise in aircraft recovery.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to strengthening operational readiness and upholding the highest safety standards across our airports. Responding to disabled aircraft requires advance preparation, qualified personnel and effective coordination among the organisations involved. By bringing together our facilities and operational experience with RESQTEC's specialist expertise, we aim to develop our teams' capabilities and share knowledge with specialists from around the world. This will support safe operations and help minimize the impact of such incidents on air traffic flow and the continuity of airport operations," said Saud Al Hubaishi, Chief Operating Officer at Oman Airports.

The partnership reflects both organisations' commitment to practical training, knowledge sharing and greater resilience across airport operations.

Details of upcoming training courses in Muscat and registration arrangements will be announced jointly by Oman Airports and RESQTEC.
